The Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation has been a part of Saskatchewan since 1960. When it was first introduced, crop insurance covered 25 areas of the province and insured just three crops. Today insurance is offered province-wide on more than 20 crops with new crops and varieties added yearly. (More History)

Governing Legislation
The Canada-Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Program is governed by the following regulations and agreements:
* Farm Income Protection Act (federal)
* Crop Insurance Act(provincial)
* Agricultural Safety Net Act (provincial)
* Crop Insurance Regulations (federal & provincial)
* Canada-Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Agreement
The corporation also administers payments under the Waterfowl Crop Damage Compensation Program and the Big Game Damage Compensation Program.
