Uncovering and Evaluating Management Strategies

Abstract: This paper argues in favor of a decision support approach relying on an explicit and rigorous modeling of the management strategy that underlies any farmer’s decision making behavior. A strategy is a roadmap of intended technical tasks over a management period. It is tied to an overall objective and specifies what to do depending of the encountered situations. An essential feature is its flexibility enabling to cope with stochastic fluctuations of the environment. (more...)
