When it was first introduced, crop insurance covered 25 areas of the province and insured just three crops. ACRE DEVELOPS BLUEPRINT FOR ACTION

acre3The Action Committee on the Rural Economy (ACRE) set out a blueprint for its work over the next two to four years at a meeting in Regina yesterday and today. ACRE will recommend strategies to government to drive sustainable economic development and develop the competitiveness of Saskatchewan products.
The group has named sub-committee chairs to focus on eight areas for rural development: Agriculture, Agri-value, Community in Evolution, Farm structure/Farm income, Resources, Rural Manufacturing and Construction, Rural Service and Tools for Economic Development. (more...)

Problems with the prices of agricultural products

What is the problem?

The prices at which farmers sell agricultural products are low. For example, barley and wheat have had a rise of 5 cents per kilo and in turn the products manufactured by these products have risen 10 cents a majority and so it is with most things. You pay little for the products it sells to farmers, but later, when buying what is done with these products, we see that the price has risen sharply.
