Irrigation, drainage, conservation and health, which are vital to a successful agriculture, require specialized knowledge of agricultural engineers. 180px-working_man-obrero_2Agricultural policy is very complex due to the need to balance the ecology, the country’s needs and social problems of those living in the countryside.Agriculture is a key issue in the fight for global justice. Although there is an excess of food on world markets, causing prices to fall continuously, it is not yet solved the problem of hunger in the world. The rapid loss of arable land and decreasing the amount of available freshwater, of which 70% is used for agriculture, is today one of the main causes of poverty. The fight against hunger suffered 800 million human beings is not possible without a thorough reform of global agricultural policy. (more…)

Biographical rapporteur
Mr David Bekhor studied Agronomy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Later he specialized in organic agriculture in Sussex, England. In the employment field has served as production manager of cut flowers in Holambra, Brazil, and as a consultant in fields of flowers in various countries of MERCOSUR. Today is the Export Manager for Latin America at the company Ginegar Plastic Products of Israel.
